- Abstract
The article discusses the growing concern over workplace violence in the U.S. healthcare sector as of December 8, 2010. It references statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The possible reasons for the permeation of violence in the healthcare sector include the portrayal of health care as a commodity and declining social incivility. It presents some recommendations that health facilities can consider for their safety plan.
