- Abstract
The article reports on the effectiveness of a single dose of a vaccine from by Sanofi Pasteur to protect most healthy pregnant women based on preliminary results from a clinical trial of a 2009 influenza A(H1N1) vaccine. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 100 pregnant women have been hospitalized and 28 have died from such infections. The clinical trial received funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Additional information on the trial is available from the institute's Web site.
