- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to examine the role played by Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to improve the efficiency of the National Health Service (NHS) Scotland. The study showed that several hospitals are using Kaizen associated activities as part of process improvement. It revealed that even though Lean has been adopted by several NHS Trusts in Scotland, there was lack of evidence of using Lean thinking to alter the culture of a particular NHS Trust.
