- Abstract
The article discusses role of pericoital application of tenofovir gel in herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) in HIV-negative women of South Africa. Topics discussed include reduction in risk for HSV-2 infection as compared with placebo drug as confirmed by western blot testing of negative HSV-2, importance of vaginal gel in protecting against sexually transmitted infections and increase in infectiousness of HIV-1 infection due to HSV-2 infection.
