- Abstract
In spite of the increase in studies of organisational learning, this field of research remains complex and ambiguous to grasp. The ambiguity lies mainly in the organisational dimension of learning. What makes organisational learning different from individual learning ? How does individual learning relate to organisational learning ? Is there a collective cognitive pattern? How does it emerge from the company's different individual cognitive structures ? The aim of this article is to unveil those fundamental problems, which have been ignored for a long time. This study is conducted from a sociocognitive point of view according to which the organisational nature of learning can be grasped only through an analysis of its relational and interactive dimension. The study thus adopts a wider perspective than that offered by the cognitive paradigm, integrating in its analysis a social dimension which is expressed through the concepts of «interaction» and «social representation». These concepts are illustrated through a case of participant observation.
