- Abstract
The article presents information on the mental health law and the problems faced in mental health disorders with reference to a study conducted on the college students of Virginia. It discusses the prevention, mental health services, addressing the needs of suicidal students, health insurance and behavioral health benefits. It further focuses on the task forces on legal issues and the legislation based on Virginia Tech tragedy, need of parental notifications and threat assessment teams including cooperation of colleges. It also focuses on restraint requirement as suggested by Donald M. Berwick, administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an investigation of Delaware psychiatric center and emergency custody and temporary detention orders.
