- Abstract
The global economic crisis has affected almost all of the world's economies, expanding its influence to the household sector. This paper examines the impact of the global economic crisis on employees in two countries. When the crisis began, these two countries were on different levels of development. The sample includes employees from 15 companies in Vojvodina (Serbia) and 15 companies in Csongrád and Bacs-Kiskun (Hungary). Based on the data collected from the sample, we present the movement of wages of respondents with different levels of education for each country, followed by a comparison of the two countries. Likewise, we determine the differences in the level of wages before and after the global economic crisis, as well as the impact of the crisis on the living standard of the respondents. The aim of this paper is to compare the impact of the global economic crisis on the living standard in the border regions of the two countries, whereby the level of education of the respondents in the sample is taken as an independent variable.
