- Abstract
The article discusses the ethical and practical dilemmas confronting psychiatrists on the issue of medical aid in dying (MAiD) or assisted suicide. Also cited are the differences among MAiD, euthanasia and suicide, the countries that passed laws allowing physician-assisted suicide and voluntary active euthanasia as of 2018, as well as the key role played by psychiatrists in the implementation of the laws.
