- Abstract
The article focuses on the subcultural intervention and political activism during the post-feminism period. It features the essay "Smells Like Teen Spirit: Riot Grrrls, Revolution and Women in Independent Rock," by Joanne Gottlieb and Gayle Wald which explores the relations between hardcore assault of grrrl-style revolution tactics and the political strategies of feminism that were developed from feminist movements. It discusses the Riot grrrl phenomenon which has been described by two Riot Grrrl NYC members as an organization that encourages women's intelligence, creativity and achievement.
