- Title
Chinese herbal extracts of Rubia cordifolia and Dianthus superbus suppress IgE production and prevent peanut-induced anaphylaxis.
- Abstract
The article presents a research which aims to analyze the anti-IgE effects of Chinese herbal extracts of Dianthus superbus and Rubia cordifolia. It is stated that peanut allergy is characterized by increased levels of peanut-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) in the serum of patients, thus inhibition of IgE production by committed B-cells could be used in therapy. The findings of the study showed that the extracts of Dianthus superbus and Rubia cordifolia inhibited IgE production in vitro and in vivo, and reduced anaphylactic reactions in peanut-allergic mice. It is concluded that these extracts have potentials for peanut-allergy treatments.
