Could Ghrelin Be a Predictive Marker for Postoperative Weight Loss?

- Abstract
Apart from the effects on food intake, it can be thought that increased ghrelin secretion would indicate increased destruction, in line with the effects of ghrelin on the catalytic process in the fasting state. For ghrelin, which has the potential to be a predictive marker in the future, large case series studies must be evaluated in gastric tissues of obese and non-obese individuals, as well as analyzed in correlation with fasting- postprandial serum ghrelin expressions. Although ghrelin plasma levels were not specified in the current study, Itlaybah et al. reported that preoperative ghrelin-expressing cell number and ghrelin plasma levels were correlated [[2]].
