Spiritual-Treatment Exemptions to Child Neglect Statutes--State v. Crank: Vagueness and Establishment Clause Challenges to Selective Prosecution of Faith-Healing Parents.
- Authors
DAVIS, PABLO J.
- Abstract
The article reports the decision of the Tennessee Supreme Court in the case 'State v. Crank' in which the court held that because the spiritual-treatment exemption applies only to members of the Christian Science and like churches, the statute gives fair notice of prohibited conduct and is not void for vagueness. It discusses spiritual-treatment exemption, though jurisdictions; child neglect statutes and ways in which establishment clause challenge to prosecution of faith-healing parents.
