- Authors
Prineas, Matthew
- Abstract
Poetry criticism on references to New Testament, Hebrews, in the poem "On the Famous Voyage" by Ben Jonson is presented. As the concluding poem in Jonson's collection "Epigrammes," it features a mock-epic structure to highlight worldly knowledge and the response of the listeners. Allusions to Christianity in the poem, comparisons to John Milton's pastoral elegy "Lycidas," and burlesque literature are considered.
