- Abstract
The author critiques a passage from the book "Moby-Dick" by Herman Melville about secrets and happiness. Melville's hidden themes are discussed, such as philosophy from ancient Greek philosopher Plato, Gnostic Christian themes, and homosexuality. Romantic and sexual love are discussed, as well as religious faith and the Biblical story of Cain. The psychologies of the characters Captain Ahab and Starbuck are also described.
