- Abstract
The article discusses "The Sportswoman (TSW)," a periodical focusing on women's athletics published between 1924 and 1936 in the U.S. Particular focus is given to an analysis of how the content of the journal addressed stereotypes related to women's sports and addressed social issues related to competitiveness and aggression in women athletes. The article notes that the focus audience of TSW was physical educators and middle- and upper-class women, as well as members of the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA).
