The article presents a study that deals with Justine Ward, developer of the Ward Method of music instruction. It focuses on her relationship with the Pius X School of Liturgical Music at Manhattanville College and the rapid rise to prominence and dissemination of the Ward Method. The author also examines the fracture in relationship between Ward and the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. He highlights the influence of the Ward Method throughout the U.S.
