- Abstract
The article discusses transient ischemic attack (TIA), defined as a transient episode of neurologic dysfunction resulting from focal brain, spinal cord, or retinal ischemia, without acute infarction, its evaluation and management. In the provision of optimal care to patients suspected of having a TIA, a step-by-step process, known as identify, send, evaluate, and treat (I-SENT) protocol is used. A patient suspected of TIA is advised to be sent immediately to a certified stroke center.
