- Abstract
The article focuses on familial dilated cardiomyopathy (FDC) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). It states that FDC is diagnosed when the two first or second degree family members have met the criteria for DCM diagnosis and family history helps in distinguishing FDC from idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDC). It mentions that DCM is a condition wherein the heart muscle enlarges, which causes the left ventricular systolic dysfunction.
