- Abstract
The article presents a study on the use of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) as a disruptive technical technology for active electronically scanned array (AESA) antennas. Topics include the functionalities of built-in self-test and built-in calibration, phase and amplitude accuracy, and the required increased compaction of circuit functionality for planar AESAs. Also discussed are the benefits of ASICs including its ability to integrate control and tuning elements.
