- Title
Seabird effects on coastal ecosystems.
- Authors
Bradbury, Jane
- Abstract
The article presents a research that shows the importance of seabirds to coastal ecosystems. The research on freshwater Arctic pond sediments offers evidence that seabirds are important biovectors, transferring contaminants from marine ecosystems to freshwater coastal ecosystems. Paleolimnologist Neal Michelutti states that results of research suggest that fluctuations in seabird populations made by climate change could have entailment for the nutrient budget of coastal ecosystems worldwide.
