- Title
The Political Economy of Information in TESOL.
- Authors
Pennincton, Martha C.
- Abstract
The article presents response of the author on comments made by Alastair Pennycook on her article "Approaches to Faculty Evaluation for ESL" written in collaboration with Aileen L. Young. The author thinks that Pennycook has taken a much narrower view of evaluation. The author and her colleague conceptualized evaluation as a form of "top-down" social control of teachers by outside authorities. It is not accurate to claim that there is a lack of discussion on why teachers are being evaluated and by whom.
