- Abstract
The article discusses the significance of the media to what the author terms involved citizenship as of 2001. The article examines how the media respond to the needs of active citizens and focuses upon Great Britain. It discusses how information is presented by British newspapers and television networks such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and ITN. The article also discusses how technological innovations may impact the flow of information from media to citizens and cites the online availability of parliamentary bills, committee reports, and policy papers, as well as the use of direct links by British newspapers such as the "Daily Telegraph" to online resources. The author also presents his thoughts on the BBC as a media entity.
