- Abstract
The article "Innovative Approaches in Long-Term Care" discusses the importance of innovations in elderly care and emphasizes the need for substantial change for the better. The author, Frank Schulz-Nieswandt, examines the concept of innovation and argues for an anthropologically founded, legal-philosophical, and ethical perspective. The article also emphasizes the importance of interventions and research for dissemination and implementation in care. A specific topic is the validation method for people with dementia, in which a positive effect is not excluded despite predominantly negative results. Finally, the sustainability of innovations in care is discussed, particularly the expert standard of relationship building in the care of people with dementia. The article examines different assessments of the sustainability of this expert standard in long-term care. Some individuals evaluate the implementation as successful, while others see potential for improvement. The sustainability of implementation processes is influenced by various factors, including the organization, external context, intervention, implementation process, and individuals involved. The author emphasizes the importance of organizational culture, knowledge management, and networking for sustainable change. The second part of the article deals with the integration of foreign nursing professionals and the associated challenges. The author suggests that small and medium-sized care facilities should seek new forms of regional cooperation to facilitate international recruitment. The article concludes with an appeal for a fundamental realignment of the nursing and care system in Germany.
