Steppe migration rekindles debate on language origin.
- Authors
Callaway, Ewen
- Abstract
The article discusses two studies which revealed the steppes as the origin of languages and dialects that belong to the Indo-European family, published in 2015. One of the studies is an analysis of ancient human DNA conducted by evolutionary and population geneticist David Reich of Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts. Another was a study by historical linguist Andrew Garrett of the University of California which revealed the approximate ages of ancient Indo-European languages.
