- Abstract
The article discusses the social aspects of the economic boom caused by the development of oil fields and the oil industry in East Texas during the 1930s, including its relationship with decreased agriculture in the region and its effect on Texas farmers. The oil boom's impact on African Americans, including their exclusion from working in the oil industry in the Southern States and its increase to racial segregation, is discussed.
