- Abstract
The article discusses the history of U.S. slave trade as portrayed in American public history. Particular focus is given to the travel writer Miriam Bellangee Wilson's the Old Slave Mart Museum (OSMM) in Charleston, South Carolina, on which once stood a slave auction house. An overview of 19th century slavery in Charleston is provided.
