- Title
Addressing sexual and gender minority disparities in cancer research.
- Authors
Dean, David; Smith, Ashley Wilder
- Abstract
Importantly, the authors have focused their analysis on cancer survivors among the sexual and gender minority community and those without cancer using a case-control design. Cancer survivors within the sexual and gender minority community experience disparities in health behaviors and outcomes, and those disparities are often attributable to prevention and treatment efforts that fail to address sexual and gender minority-specific needs. There is a need to better understand not only comparisons between cancer survivors who are or are not from the sexual and gender minority community but also to compare sexual and gender minority individuals who are or are not cancer survivors.
