- Abstract
A critique is presented of metaphysical poems by William Butler Yeats from the 1920s, such as "Sailing to Byzantium," "Two Songs from a Play," and "The Tower." Themes of pride, faith, and time in the poems are discussed, as well as Yeats influence from and depiction of ancient Greek philosopher Plato and Greek deity Dionysus. Consciousness in poetry and Yeats' epitaph are also discussed.
