- Authors
Pao, David W.
- Abstract
This article presents an examination into the New Testament passage of Acts 6:1-7, describing the initial creation of the Deaconate office and the social conflicts between the Hellenists and Hebrews of the early Christian Church. The author reviews several dominant theories regarding the interpretation of the passage, noting problematic inconsistencies in each explanation. The table fellowship theme seen in Luke-Acts is then analyzed regarding this passage.
