- Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the wisdom, counsel, and divine will in the biblical Book of 2 Samuel 17:1-23 which is centered on the narrative of Absalom's rebellion in 2 Sam 15:1-19:5. Topics include issues of family dynamics and generational conflict that resonates thematically with other ancient tales such as the Greek myths of Oedipus and Zeus. An analysis of the language of 2 Samuel 17:1-23, which the author thinks reveals deeper theological complexities, is presented.
