- Abstract
The United States of America and the Republic of North Macedonia have maintained good and friendly relations since the country's independence from the former Yugoslavia in 1991 until today. The two countries have established a strong foundation of political bilateral relations, marked by extensive cooperation in various areas. This collaboration extends to multiple sectors, including the economy, defense, education, culture, civil activism, health, energy, judiciary, and the development of democracy and good governance Since its independence, North Macedonia has encountered numerous challenges across all aspects of society, encompassing both economic and security dimensions. These challenges have affected the country's stability and hindered its progress. Throughout this period, the USA confirmed itself as a principle partner of North Macedonia in maintaining stability, encouraging regional cooperation and supporting membership in the Euro-Atlantic institutions. Significant contributions have been made towards the development of the Republic of Macedonia through the involvement of the biggest global aid agency, USAID, as well as various US institutions and organizations implementing development programs within the country. Furthermore, the bilateral cooperation between the two nations has resulted in numerous donations and training initiatives, aligning with the developmental policy of the United States in the region.
