- Abstract
Canine ehrlichiosis is a severe disease that leads to death, both for its hematologic and for clinical changes which justify the multifactorial catabolic character of the disease. Severe organic alterations may damage the adaptative metabolism of dogs to the environment, functions aggregate to the adrenal glands. Thus, this research aims to assess the concentration of sulphate dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA-S) in dogs infected with Ehrlichia canis (n = 15). There were no significant differences in the concentrations of DHEA-S between groups, although the concentrations of DHEA-S in infected dogs were increased.
