- Abstract
Socio-pedagogical and medico-social work with disadvantaged children requires professional competences adequate to the dynamic social changes associated with preparing children for independent and independent living. This issue is particularly relevant and relevant for children with disabilities when they are raised outside the family environment and is subject to the measure of a Family-type accommodation center. As a result of a number of sociological studies, peculiarities in the development of a disadvantaged child have been identified. One of the main problems is the lack of self-care skills and habits. This fact determines the need for the development of an appropriate occupational and ergotherapeutic program that is appropriate to the age and individual health characteristics of the children, raiseds in a Family-type accommodation center setting and assist in the process of forming independent living skills. The purpose of this Communication is to present an author's program on occupational therapy and ergotherapy to be included in the medico-social rehabilitation of disadvantaged children. Material and Methods: A survey was conducted on a voluntary basis with 56 employees of the Six Familytype accommodation centers - Pleven. The survey includes questions related to the activities that children do in their spare time and the need for new ones. Results and analysis: All respondents indicate that it is necessary to organize activities with the children to stimulate their motor activity and develop their creative potential, as well as to include various activities, materials and techniques for working with children using the social service. Conclusion: The study shows that there is a need for the implementation of occupational and ergotherapy programs that stimulate the development process of disadvantaged children to improve self-care and life skills, as well as the acquisition of professional habits.
