- Title
EP01.16: Echographic and Doppler predictive assessment of the cervix in isthmical‐cervical incompetence.
- Abstract
The total length of the cervix, the length of the closed part, the thickness of the cervix at the level of the upper closed edge, the degree of shortening, the echogenicity of the mucous membrane of the cervical canal, the presence of cervical cysts, the prolapse of the fetal membranes, "sludge" at the lower pole of the fetal membranes were evaluated. The informative and predictive value of a measurement of the length of the cervix is very low for the failure of surgical correction or pessary. We found that in the 2nd trimester the length of the closed segment of the uterine cervix 15 mm and shorter, shortening of the cervix for 10 days by 25% or more, or total shortening by more than 2/3 of the total length of the cervix, the thickness of the cervix more than 2 times more closed part of the cervix, the presence of sludge in the lower pole of the ovum and the expansion of the internal os more than 12 mm are unfavorable signs of failure of the correction of CI and abortion/PB in 98%.
