- Title
The tangled web of medical and commercial interests.
- Authors
Rogers, Wendy A.
- Abstract
The article reflects on the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and doctors which adversely affects the patient-doctor relationship. It states that the cost incurred on free lunches for doctors is significant, both financially and in terms of lost opportunities for expenditure on other aspects of health care. These costs potentially damage the doctor-patient relationship via an assault on the ethical principal of beneficence, or acting in the patient's best interests.
