- Abstract
Effective blood pressure therapy is a central health goal, although several studies worldwide show inacceptable control rates. Lack of patient compliance is a major factor responsible for the differences between clinical triáls results and real effectiveness in daily medical practice, contributing to an insufficient control of the cardiovascular risk. Non-adherence is probably an important source of preventable cardiovascular morbidity and mortality and the efforts should be addressed to improve and increase the adherence y persistence of the patients to the antihypertensive treatment.
