- Title
WESTERN SAHARA: UN Envoy Visits.
- Abstract
The article reports on a Moroccan crackdown on pro-independence protestors in Western Sahara as United Nations (UN) special envoy Christopher Ross finished his latest visit to the disputed territory. Morocco usurped the former Spanish colony in 1975 in a move never acknowledged by the international community. An overview of the conflict between the Morocco government and the Polisario Front, which has campaigned for independence since 1973, is discussed.
