- Abstract
Despite the high prevalence of depression in female caregivers, barriers to care exist, including perceived relevance of treatment and therapist/client interaction variables. Focusing on a peer-delivered detection and outreach intervention, this study examined the relationship between the working relationship between peer and caregiver, engagement in mental health services, and perceived barriers to treatment. Findings show a stronger working alliance was associated with both engagement in mental health treatment and fewer perceived barriers to access.
