- Abstract
The article discuses a study related to the performance of the percentage of haemoglobin A (HB A) for testing beta thalassaemia in the newborns. The study included the collection of data on newborn sickle cell screening, and reporting to the National Health Service of Great Britain (NHS) about thalassaemia and sickle Cell programmes in England. The study concludes that if the value of haemoglobin A is less than 1.5 percent, it is a reliable screening test for beta thalassaemia in newborns.
