- Abstract
The 22nd International Congress of the French Society of Scottish Studies took place in Chambéry, France from November 16th to 18th, 2023. The congress, hosted by the Laboratoire Langages, Littératures, Sociétés, Etudes Transfrontalières et Internationales research hub at Université Savoie Mont Blanc, focused on the theme of contacts and intercultural exchanges. Participants from France, Scotland, England, and Iceland came together to explore Scotland's past and present, including its artistic, political, and cultural reinventions. The conference covered a wide range of topics, including travel literature, translation, multiculturalism, linguistic exchanges, religious and political tensions, diasporic experiences, and Scotland's interactions with the British Empire. The event was considered a success and provided a stimulating and refreshing exploration of Scotland's identity and connections to Europe and the world.
