- Abstract
This work describes the activities performed within the project "Student's Participation in elaboration of Multimedia Material" for the Engineering Faculty's General Physics 1 course. In groups of two to four the students attending that subject solved, voluntarily, a problem presented by the teachers and created multimedia material for the course's webpage. The objective was to generate a learning environment in which the student group would solve a problem stated in parametric form, written and orally transmit its conclusions, and query about the results obtained when parameters or conditions are changed. This way the student faced unexpected results that, guided by the teacher, he/she had to explain. We wished to motivate an active student's participation in the teaching and learning process changing his/her perception about what it is to solve a problem, and to study how that influences his/her short and medium term academic performance. Most of the students got a better grade at General Physics 1, although the performance was not improved in the medium term.
