- Title
Sounds of Surveillance: U.S. Spanish- Language Radio Patrols La Migra.
- Authors
Casillas, Dolores Inés
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the discussion of immigration in U.S. Spanish-language radio. It is suggested that the growth of Spanish-language radio is due in part to U.S. Latinos' growing need to seek advice concerning deportation and documentation without revealing their identities visually. Particular focus is given to legal advice segments and warnings about immigration officials on radio programs. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. immigration law are also discussed.
