Abstract
The article reports on technological innovations in materials science. A polycarbonate/polyester alloy from GE Plastics was used in the spice shaker developed by British chef Jamie Oliver and William Levene Ltd. Polymerized lactic acid is a plastic resin derived from corn byproducts and used in water bottles. A steel triangle music instrument is featured in an April 2006 edition of "The New York Times" periodical.
