- Abstract
Works of art have some specific characteristics. In order to efficiently examine artworks handled by artist, particular properties of the art must be considered. Ontology of art brings the artwork to the center of examination as an existence. Evaluating the artwork by going into the ins and outs constitutes the discriminating aspect of the ontology of art. As in all kinds of art, ontological analysis separates literary texts into the literate layers. In the similar line, it considers the text in terms of form and meaning when discussing the literate text. Separation of the literate text into two, namely front-yard and back-yard structure, is the method of the ontological analysis. Moreover, while front-yard refers to the elements of text rhythm and form of the literate text, the back-yard refers to the elements of text's meaning. Abdülhak Hamit Tarhan's poetic poem Nâkâfi is a response to the critics against his Makber poem. Hamit finds the criticism ruthless, and then he praises himself for breaking rules of old poems. The poet transforms to a romantic subject as his crunch times in his life determine his way of art. In his Nâkâfi poem, Hamit understands of the art, and his responses to Makber's ctritics were blended. Reaching the rhythm by meter, alliteration, assonance, Hamit achieves to establish the link between the meaning and the elements of rhythm. Understanding the rhythm elements and semantic universe behind the text can only be comprehended by an ontological analysis. The aim of this study is analyzed Nâkâfi poem ontologically.
