The article offers the author's insights on the heterotopic roles of femininity in Iranian films according to theorist Michael Foucault. She mentions filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami whose female and child characters serve as the opponents of the repressive government. Film director Lindsey Moore says that Iranian films feature a symbolical use of gendered figure of women in the society.
