- Title
Arabinogalactan-Proteins: Key Regulators at the Cell Surface?
- Authors
Ellis, Miriam; Egelund, Jack; Schultz, Carolyn J.; Bacic, Antony
- Abstract
The article focuses on arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) plant molecules. It mentions that the complexity of AGPs is caused by the diversity of glycans found in the protein backbone, peripheral sugars in large arabinogalactan (AG) chains, microheterogeneity of protein backbone glycosylation and diversity of protein backbone with AG glycomodules. It also examines the structure of AGPs which is comprised of carbohydrate, protein and glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. It stresses that the main function of AGPs is yet to be determined.
