- Abstract
Fables, in which notions that are hard to understood by children are animated with concrete events, are accepted as an important educational appliances. Animals and objects having the human-specific behaviours open the door of a familiar world to children whom live the truth within the dream. Because of this, fables arouse interests of children. Known as the master of fables, La Fontaine, is a poet who has been read by children and is still being read. La Fontaine, which is not written for children, causes arguments as it is taught to children, some people blames the poet for inculcating the children in a wrong way. However, each fable given in the La Fontaine has a deep meaning, thought-provoking morals, exemplary life lessons. By making children speak on each of these and making them find the lessons, they could be provided with some memorable life lessons. In choosing fables and making children find the lessons, teacher's being a good guide and being a leader is very essential. In this study, La Fontaine fables are analysed in terms its giving ethical values to children and are tried to be classified thematically.
