- Title
SME BANKING IN AUSTRALIA: A TALE OF crossed wires?
- Authors
Dowling, Sian
- Abstract
The article reports on the increase in the interest rates and lending fees for small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Australia. It indicates that access to credit for the country's SMEs has tightened during the financial crisis, as domestic business lenders reprice risk and their lending books to maintain margins. It cites a report showing that SMEs have had an average percentage increase to their lending fees of 1.9%, while access to credit is starting to open up for the market.
