- Abstract
The article discusses a thirteenth-century pen and ink drawing found as an illustration of the medieval manuscript "Manuel des péchés," attributed to William de Wadington, owned by Joan de Tateshal. The author describes the drawing, which depicts an exemplary story about the Third Commandment and the holiness of the sabbath. Topics considered include the symbolic significance of viticulture, vipers, and allegedly inappropriate leisure activities such as dancing, wrestling, and drinking, as represented in art and religious literature.
