- Abstract
The article presents a lesson plan for teaching students the history of declining fishing resources in the Pacific Northwest in the late twentieth century. The lesson plans study the complex issue of managing depleting renewable resources like salmon fisheries. The lesson plan conforms to the national standard for United States History, period and objectives. The article discusses the role of salmon in life in the Pacific Northwest, controlling the harvests, the signing of treaties with native tribes and Government of the United States and other treaties about the rights of native Americans. Session wise details of the study plan are also presented.
